My List : Contributers to Bachata Worldwide

The reason why I teach Bachata from the island is because I have a dream :
I want the whole world to dance Bachata like the Dominicans do.

As an instructor and a culture advocate I see it as my mission to spread not only my passion and love for Bachata but also to spread the awareness that Dance Is Culture.

If we want to really see a positive change in the International Dance Scenes, we need to connect with like minded people.
Thank God there are maaaany many people in so many countries and cities who are doing an amazing job in teaching, DJ-ing, organising events and festivals, promoting, doing dance trips to the DR, creating Online groups and communities - basically supporting and encouraging the growth of Dominican Dance Music & Culture.

Sometimes it can be lonely and frustrating because we still are a minority in the Latin Dance scene. However there’s good news : you are not alone in this and there are plenty of people who feel the same like you.
It’s just that we don’t know each other because we don’t get any opportunity to connect with each other, because there’s not enough offer !

For that very reason I created this worldwide list of amazing people who are contributing to creating communities and trying to have a positive impact on the growth of Bachata.

I know I didn’t put ALL instructors and DJs, for a very good reason.
First of all to make it clear, this is a list I made with my own free time and desire, nobody paid or asked me to do so, and it’s my very personal list I want to share with the people who are interested in connecting with their tribe.
This list is not just a collection of anybody who teaches or puts on music or to make anybody more famous than others or to put anybody on the pedestal.

That being said, just because you are not on my list doesn't mean I don’t respect your work or I don’t believe in the credibility of your work. I simply might have forgotten as well, or we haven’t had the chance to connect yet.
Please don’t take this list personal, it’s solely a list made by somebody who loves to share what she appreciates.
This is not the final list, it can be added, modified, removed…
it’s alive and will continue to change.

This list is entirely based on my personal understanding, belief, observation and connection, but I can proudly say that I have more or less almost all of them. Following traits were important for me to add.
People, who…

  • Contribute actively to the community as instructors, DJs, organisers, promoters

  • Create communities

  • Respect the culture and the people from the Dominican Republic

  • Inspire and encourage others to become active in the community

  • Take actions not only for their own benefits but also in the best interest of their local and the international community, and the Dominican culture and people

  • I have had some kind of interaction and connection with

  • I have mutual recognition and appreciation with

  • Bring positive vibes to the table

  • Who are passionate about their activities

  • Who choose to show up unapologetically authentic for Bachata from the DR

  • Who have a strong staple, identity, and belief in what they do.


You are very welcome to help me with the list and giving me suggestions, however I will not promise anything nor please anybody, and names will be added only after a careful review beforehand and when I feel a certain type of connection. Also, if you Do Not want to be on the list, please send me a message so I can remove you.

Again, Remember that this is my own very personal list where I spend my valuable time and energy in order to share it with the world.
And most importantly, I feel responsible for what I share, so I need to be able to stand for what I choose here, because this list represents also my beliefs.

You might be thinking that this list is a picky choice of Kuriko - well yes you’re absolutely right :)

This list is for helping you find like minded people, your tribe, your community, based on my fundamental belief :
