“For the love of Bachata“
For those of you who follow me on social media might have seen already my exciting news :
I will be teaching at one of the BEST Online Bachata Events EVER ,
at FOR THE LOVE OF BACHATA organized by Jessica Taylor aka DJ Tay !!!!!
I still remember the day when Jessica asked me if I was willing to teach at her event and I was so surprised yet at the same time super excited because it’s been my dream. As an advocate of the authentic Dominican art and culture it’s such an honor to work with her and here’s a little background story I’d like to share with you.
As I already mentioned before Jessica is a Latin DJ and an event organizer from Pittsburgh, US. I’ve been following her activities on social media for three years now and we finally met each other two years ago at the Bachata Paradise Festival in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic, in May 2019. Even though I’d never participated her events , which were live events obviously pre Covid, I’ve admired the people who could go to her events simply because she has such a good taste of instructors. She would invite artists such as Carlos Cinta (US), Edwin & Dakhota (aka Areíto Arts , US), Dima & Liza (Israel), Juan Mejía & Melanie Mueller (US), and the list goes on.. Basically I knew we have the same taste when it comes to Bachata dancers :)
But when I was most impressed by her was her reaction when the pandemic started - she was one of the first people who immediately started launching Bachata events online. That’s when FTLOB Online came to live and since then she’s been constantly inviting literally all the amazing instructors from all over the place - U.S., Spain, Germany, Dominican Republic, etc.
Finally I could join her events - not live, but online - and she would just keep impressing me. The preparation such as newsletter, managing Zoom, having a team supporting her especially with technical and customer service, was just extremely professional.
By that time I would already be secretly wishing that one day I’ll be given the opportunity to teach there as well.
And now it’s really happening…!!!
I’m not writing this post only because I’ll be working with her and I want to promote us. Having the opportunity to work with somebody I admire and respect is such a blessing, and I want to support her beautiful work and contribution to the Dominican art and culture - for the love of Bachata.
